Pope on a rope
A post about the Terri Schiavo case, and it's implications for the Catholic Church, The Catholic teaching being that feeding must continue indeffinantly. He ends with posing that we might end up with a Pope in a permenant vegitative state, which is very possible, and that they would therefore be required to keep him alive for as long as it took, which as the Schiavo case says can be years. However there is a problem in this for the Church as the Vatican (and so the Catholic Church) is run like a medeval principality, and all major decisions have to go through His Holiness. Nothing can happen without his say so. This is already a problem as whenever the current Pope goes into hospital the Vatican basically grinds to a halt, and where he away for 15 years? The Church would find some way around the impasse, but it would have a major negitive effect and probably lead to the diminishment of the office of the Pope.
Or they couldjust do something horrible like this.
